Electronics Hardware: I have
extensive formal training and field/bench experience in computer systems and peripheral
equipment, from a number of manufacturers including IBM, Novell, Altos, Apple, and
others. My training includes installation, updating and trouble-shooting of a wide
range of commercial mainframe and networked computer systems, peripheral equipment,
networked sub-systems, fiber optics and ground-based satellite receiver systems. In
support of trouble-shooting skills, my formal training with diagnostic equipment includes
the use of Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Logic Probes, and Signal Generators.
For my personal use, I have designed, assembled and currently maintain three
IBM-compatible systems; an Intel Celeron MMX-366 system, an Intel Dual
Pentium-750MHz system and
an Intel 486-33 system. These systems include IDE and SCSI interfacing to hard
drives, DVD-RAM and Recordable CD-ROM storage devices, as well as a Fast Ethernet hub network
sub-system. I use these systems for web-page design, telecommunications and hobby
related applications.
Software Skills: I have had
experience in various operating systems that include DOS versions 1.0-6.2, Windows 3.0,
3.1, 3.11, 95/98/ME, NT/2000/XP, Apple ProDOS, Linux/Unix and most recently
Solaris 8.1. My current use of application
software includes Microsoft Office 97/98/2000/2003 Professional and FrontPage
97/98. I have a working
knowledge of various Adobe applications including PageMaker, Premier,
Acrobat, Illustrator,
PhotoShop, CorelDraw and WordPerfect Suite 7.0, Adaptec CD-Creator. My programming abilities have
included basic and machine languages, and I have recently installed MSVisual
Studio 6.0 on my home system to further familiarize myself with the included
high level languages, (for use in web-page design and personal education). To
compliment this direction of study, I have recently completed refresher courses on
Netscape LiveWire and JavaScript theory.
Mechanical Skills: Trained in
aircraft maintenance, I am trained in rebuilding engines to Military Specifications,
refrigeration equipment, avionics, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. My training
included a working knowledge of metallurgy, woodworking and sewing. I have included
aspects of this background and my practiced skills in both my career and personal
hobbies. Currently, I am one of 19 field service
technicians maintaining the customer base of GEM Electric Vehicles.
General Skills: During the
course of my career, I have focused upon various forms of
transportation and communications, verbal,
electronic and written. The skills I have developed have lent themselves to
assignments as varied as designing advertising flyers for various companies, writing and
publishing monthly interdepartmental newsletters, developing and conducting training
seminars, and producing monthly sales reports for management. Most recently, I have
written resumes as an independent contractor for a number of people. While working
at GE/RCA Service Company, I handled inventory control, parts ordering/shipping,
preparation of incident tracking reports, and preparing budgeting, vehicle and expense
reports for my supervisor located in Los Angeles for my territory based in San Diego.
My assignment in San Diego commonly called upon my interpersonal skills training to
meet with representatives of other companies. These meetings, both formal and
casual, were for purposes of incident resolution and establishing service procedures
between RCA and other companies. Additionally, my assignments for various companies
included the installation and maintenance of equipment, and representing the company in
various sales conventions/shows.
