Position: Field Service Technician -- Customer Service Representative -- Telemarketing
Coordinator
Job Description: As a Field
Service Technician, my duties were very similar to that of a "self-employed"
Field Service Engineer. Working from my home, part of my daily activities included
responsibility for coordinating and conducting all of the local aspects of a service
business. As one of four people assigned to the San Diego/Imperial County/ Western Arizona
area, we equally shared the responsibilities of meeting RCAs contractual obligations
for the installation and service of electronic equipment. My primary responsibilities, due
to my background, were to those customers with microprocessor based equipment, including

systems, and facsimile equipment. My assignment in San Diego commonly called upon my
interpersonal skills to meet with representatives of other companies for purposes of
incident resolution and establishing service procedures between RCA and the other
companies. I also shared with the other technicians in the area, the service
responsibilities for smaller data satellite receiver systems, computer peripheral, and
Tele-processing terminal equipment. Additional duties included inventory control and
shipment of parts and equipment, operator training on all RCA supplied equipment, sales
promotion for the sales department, territorial budgeting, personal expense account and
vehicle tracking reports, and other tasks related to the daily administration and
operation of the local area. This position, as with all RCA field assignments
required 24 hour availability and rotating "on-call" status.
Originally hired at RCA Service Company,
as a Customer Service Representative, based from the offices located in Montebello,
Ca. As the only person in the RCA Western Region assigned to this account, my
responsibilities were for both the shop and field service of a single major RCA account,
during the length of the contract. My responsibilities included the bench repair of
electro-mechanical terminal sub-systems for shipment through-out the Western Region, as
well as the field service repair of equipment in a territory covering California, Nevada
and Arizona. Additionally, I was called upon to provide technical support, over the
telephone, to other RCA field representatives through-out the United States.
As a Tele-marketing Coordinator, I was based out of the Western
Regional Office, which had been located in Cerritos, California at the time. My primary
responsibilities in this position included telephone sales through-out the Western Region,
generation of sales leads for myself and other sales staff members, generating sales
reports for management, writing and distribution of the regional office newsletter, and
